Description

Why We Lie

When we lie we damage ourselves and others. Moreover, our failure to tell the truth is behind all manner of ills, ranging from the global economic crisis to climate change. Psychologist, author and SLT patron Dr Dorothy Rowe discusses why we lie and the importance of learning to prefer the truths of the real world to the comforting lies that ultimately betray us.

SLT Friday Evening Events

Our weekly Friday Evening Events are free, sociable and fun gatherings in a friendly environment.

Events take place at St Mary's Community Centre, Upper Street, Islington N1 2TX (next to St Mary's Church) from 6.30pm to 9.00pm, every Friday of the year, including holidays.

Refreshments are provided: tea, coffee and cold drinks from 6.30pm, followed by a healthy buffet at 7.00pm.

Each week at 7.30pm we have a different presentation, workshop or activity – it could be Latin American dancing, local history, tips on health and wellbeing, a philosophy mini-seminar or a lecture on astrophysics! We're sure you'll find something of interest in our programme. If you just want to come along to meet new people and socialise, that's fine too.

As with all SLT events, anyone is welcome to attend – just come along and check us out via the website below!
